The NIH and the Wikimedia Foundation teamed up to host a training session for NIH scientists and science writers interested in editing health and medical articles on Wikipedia. Billion dollar blood bankers

These predators lurk outside the gates of military bases and take out ads in post newspapers deliberately confusing Soldiers about their purposes. Then they stick needles and collect products from troops without any outside supervision, tricking Soldiers into selling out their buddy’s welfare for a few bucks (from AABB news).

SEC filings signal Talecris might be planning IPO
Talecris Biotherapeutics filed updated documents with the Securities and Exchange Commission, suggesting it might go public to raise as much as $1 billion. A company spokeswoman said the North Carolina firm is “always exploring opportunities,” but she declined to comment specifically on a possible initial public offering.  Charlotte Observer (N.C.), The (7/28)

Gay people try

They are trying – in multiple ways.  It is still unfair and discriminatory how our risk models are written.  Unneccesary too.

MSM have surrogate donors give blood on their behalf
Surrogate donors of men who have sex with men last week gave blood to a Canadian Blood Services clinic in St. John’s to highlight what they call an “outdated” policy against MSM donations. A spokeswoman for the agency said the policy is meant to reduce potential risk and not intended to discriminate.
