Regimental NCO Academy sets blood donations record | www.fortgordonsignal.com | Fort Gordon Signal

Looks like Erin hit a homerun with the NCOs!

For many, completing training at the Regimental Noncommissioned Officer Academy involves a healthy dose of competition. On May 21, however, almost 100 members of both the advanced and basic courses came together for a common goal: donating blood to their fellow service members, and, in the process, broke the Academy’s blood drive record with 65 pints of blood.

1st Brigade Combat Team changes command

Col Martin changes command, heading to NTC.  I think he is truly one of this nation’s heroes even if he missed his calling as a standup comedian:

Martin said he absolutely loved serving as the brigade’s commander the last two years, adding it was the best assignment he ever had.

Maj. Gen. Jeffery Hammond, the division’s commander, praised Martin’s leadership during his year in Iraq.

“Martin knows three words; attack, attack, and attack,” Hammond said. “The casual observer may not understand that there is a war to be won and Martin and his brigade did their share of winning that war in southern Baghdad.”

Giving the Gift of Life: Marine Donates Bone Marrow
When Benjamin volunteered to be listed on the C.W. Bill Young Department of Defense Marrow Donor Program back in 2004, he never dreamed he’d be confirmed as a match with a terminally-ill patient right as he was preparing to leave for a combat zone.
